CHS has a full time opening for a registered nurse to work at our onsite health unit clinic at Seaboard Foods in Guymon, OK. This person will work with a team of health care professionals providing direct patient care to employees and their dependants.



SCOPE:


Performs variety of professional duties involved in developing and delivering health care and nursing services for on-site services to client companies. Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating health maintenance and health education programs; contributes to the design of health controls and surveillance relative to toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment.



QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelor degree in Nursing and current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State where practicing. Two years of experience in nursing/triage, hospital emergency service, public health nursing, or any combination of the above is required. American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Bi-lingual in Spanish is required.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Promotes and restores patients’ health by completing the nursing process via the CHS nursing guidelines; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends and families.
  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patient, friends, and family and reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
  • Communicates well with patients, visitors, family, and coworkers.
  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude.
  • Properly and efficiently performs triage of patients - in person and on the phone.
  • Utilizes sound and appropriate critical clinical thinking assessment skills in conjunction to CHS clinical guidelines.
  • Communicates patient conditions, signs, symptoms, and all other pertinent medical information to provider.
  • On occasion will schedule patient appointments.
  • On occasion will see patients as a nurse only visit with medical direction by medical director or mid-level provider.
  • Will only carry out medical orders from medical director or mid-level providers that correlate with CHS clinical guidelines.
  • Draw labs and process blood work per CHS policies and procedures.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing; State Nurse Practice Act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient electronic medical records.
  • Maintains HIPPA compliance and holds patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Reviews nursing supplies inventory and informs administrator of needed supplies. Verifying receipt of supplies, using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating informational responding to requests; building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Fosters a team approach to patient care.
  • Other duties as assigned by medical director, practice administrator, or CHS management team.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


Bilingual in Spanish required

Physical Requirements:



  • Work involves prolonged periods of standing, computer operation, good eye/hand coordination and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Sitting for periods of time.
