Scope of work:Work with the operations team to provide administrative and operational support within the Louisville office. Assist with administrative tasks, operational tasks, and various other related duties.

This is an unpaid internship position that requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours a week for at least two months.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Gain exposure to interacting with diverse communities, cultures, and backgrounds.
  • Deepen understanding of the unique barriers, challenges, and assets of the refugee and immigrant communities.
  • Gain industry knowledge of the U.S. refugee resettlement program and its core services.
  • Gain experience in working directly with clients to support their goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Administrative Assistant with managing reception materials, answering client questions, and direct requests to appropriate staff members.
  • Assist with maintaining the reception area and lobby in a neat and professional manner.
  • Assist with liaising with office and equipment maintenance providers and other external parties as needed to support office operations.
  • Assist in covering the front desk for the Administrative Assistant.
  • Check-out IRC staff and clients completing "shopping" visits to Contributions-In-Kind (CIK) stock room.
  • Physical inventory counts.
  • Label and organize donated household items.
  • Assist with unloading and loading inbound and outbound donated household items for IRC donors and clients.
  • Conduct weekly vehicle inspections according to checklist.
  • Data entry of inventory counts into Excel and other platforms.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or must have both an active visa and work authorization status in the United States (the IRC must not be represented as a sponsor or host in any application, filing, or other context for an intern).
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking skills, time management skills, and ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Able to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; Spanish language skills a plus.
  • Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard.

Please note that this is anUNPAIDinternship; however, IRC Louisville will provide mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle usage for client services during the internship.
