Summary of Job Duties:The commissary manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the food commissary kitchen area and tenants of the Arkansas Food Innovation Center at the Market Center of the Ozarks (AFIC@MCO) and report to the Executive Director of the AFIC@MCO within the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. The manager will have responsibility for tenant on-boarding, commissary kitchen area safety and sanitation, and providing customer service and support.

Specific responsibilities will include:

*Managing and participating in the daily operations of the commissary kitchen areas ensuring that food safety standards are being met and that supply costs are staying within budget.

*Monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies, equipment repairs, and other materials needed to keep facility running smoothly.

*Support and train both team members and clients on proper food safety and sanitation practices and proctor Food Manager certification courses and exams.

*Collaborate closely with business development team to ensure a seamless onboarding process for new tenants while providing ongoing support, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

*Establish and maintain relationships with relevant industry stakeholders, such as local food associations and food-related organizations, to leverage their networks to increase facility utilization.

*Generate leads and proactively reach out to potential tenants, including caterers, food entrepreneurs, and small-scale food producers, acting as a point of contact, responding to inquiries, conducting facility tours, and addressing their needs and concerns to build and maintain a robust client list.

*Supervising tenants and conducting regular evaluations to ensure they are following local and state food regulations.

*Support research and development efforts with AFIC@MCO team for processing clients, tenant support, and outreach activities.

*Hire/manage staff when necessary.

*Support grant applications that further mission of the AFIC@MCO and UADA.Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts, food science, Culinology, or a related field, with 8+ years' industry experience. In addition, a master's in a related field with 4+ years of related experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum 1 year restaurant/kitchen leadership experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • CRC or CCS certification.
  • Food Manager Certified and ability to proctor.
  • Experience in developing and implementing commissary kitchen programs.
  • Multi-lingual in English and Spanish/Marshallese.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

  • Excellent communication, cooperation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Cooperation in AFIC@MCO team members initiative meetings including preparing and presenting reports on the activities of the commissary kitchen areas.
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all commissary areas are clean and sanitary.
  • Adherence to state food standards and oversight of state inspections.
  • Forecasting of inventory levels of necessary food safety supplies and order as necessary.
  • Investigation and conflict resolution skills with and between tenants.
  • Knowledgeable in use of technology for scheduling tenants and coordinating tenants adhere to AFIC@MCO policies and procedures including training new tenants.
  • Marketing and recruitment implementation to increase efficiency and usage of the commissary kitchen area.
  • Experienced in receiving and storage of food ingredients and supplies.
  • Flexibility to travel, as needed, and work outside of regular office hours, as required.
