Summary of Job Duties:Highly motivated individual who reports to the Director of Financial Aid and who is responsible for processing, verifying, packaging, and awarding student financial aid. Federal, state, and institutional awards will be based on changing federal and state regulations. This position also conducts financial aid workshops, advises students and parents, and assists in FA training.
Essential Job Duties:
*Counsels students on the application process; reviews and verifies financial aid applications and documents and awards students' funds based on an approved federal needs analysis, student eligibility, and funds available, following federal regulations to meet standards of compliance;
*Manages and evaluates Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and determines a student's continued financial aid standing each semester; and also works closely with the institution's Exceptions Committee on SAP appeals;
*Works with other state agencies (e.g. ADHE, Department of Human Services, Arkansas Rehabilitative Services, Child Support, Career Pathway, etc.), and coordinates student information necessary to process and award student funds;
*Acquires, maintains, and demonstrates a strong knowledge of all appropriate state, federal, and institutional financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations;
*Assists with financial aid reporting and reviews the technical processes and updates of Datatel forms and general operations of the financial aid office. Responsible for default prevention efforts that includes tracking and contacting delinquent borrowers to prevent defaults and notifying lenders of students' enrollment;
*Attends financial aid training and workshops as required; and
*Performs FAFSA and Workday student trainings.
*Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred, associate's degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. Familiar with student financial aid programs, counseling techniques, and excellent communication skills. Applicant needs to have the ability to disseminate information orally and in writing. Ability to read, interprets, and applies federal regulations as they relate to financial aid. Present a warm, friendly, and professional appearance when greeting and assisting students and clients, college staff, and visitors; ability to pay close attention to details when awarding, as well as following proper procedures for complying with FERPA regulations. Microsoft office skills a must
