Costing Specialist

CN3S is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Costing Specialist to join our team. As a Costing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in conducting preliminary damage assessments, estimating costs, and evaluating cost claims for infrastructure projects. Your expertise in cost estimation and familiarity with FEMA Public Assistance guidelines will contribute to the successful recovery and reconstruction efforts after disasters. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in a related field and possess strong analytical skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and estimating tools like RS Means.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Costing Specialist: $55,000 - $65,000
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Costing Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducts preliminary damage assessments in the field for infrastructure projects.
  • Prepares complex project worksheets for the purposes of determining project eligibility, scopes of work and estimating costs to repair or replace a facility or structure damaged by a disaster.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes applicant-provided cost claims for reasonableness and accuracy as related to the scope of work.
  • Research, reviews, and updates equipment rates used in reimbursing applicants for the use of applicant-owned equipment while performing eligible work.
  • Develops cost estimates using RS Means software.
  • Coordinates and completes basic to moderately complex site inspections to validate and record damage.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

Costing Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study. FEMA Public Assistance and/or Consolidated Resource Center (CRC) experience is preferred.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software in particular MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access.
  • Must be capable of working independently or as a team as circumstances dictate.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation for a Public Trust position.
  • Familiar with estimating tools such as RS Means.
  • Knowledge of Cost Estimating Format (CEF) is a plus.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with Federal Regulations and Code.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
